Drawing on our extensive ERP and Payrol Data migration experience Egress were invited to support the University of Birmingham's ambitious three-year programme of activity to replace legacy HR, Payroll and Finance systems with a modern integrated ERP solution. The selected replacement solution was a complex hybrid solution using Oracle Fusion HCM & ERP Cloud Applications to transform business processes along with two hosted solutions for rostering and research grant management, and on-premise deployments of BI and document management.
The University had not embarked on such a programme for a generation. With the number of bespoke systems to be replaced, the complexities and timescales around the required data migration activities - particularly for HCM and Payroll data - the Programme leadership realised that it did not possess the internal skills or experience to be able to meet the demanding deadlines to ensure a successful data migration process. It therefore decided to call on the external expertise in the form of the Egress Group to help unlock the value of its investment in terms of the data migration requirements.
The programme leadership has this to say about Egress's contribution;
"Egress were engaged to come on site to assess and remedy the data migration programme. After a swift mobilisation, an initial assessment of the position was conducted and presented to the Programme team, along with a plan to bring HCM and Payroll data migration back on schedule to enable it to enter the testing phases.
Once approved, the Egress team mobilised and conducted a mapping exercise for all aspects of HCM and Payroll data that were required to be loaded into Fusion over a seven- week period, working closely with technical and functional experts of our existing University systems.
The speed at which Egress mobilised, brought the Programme’s data migration activities back on track was impressive. They have delivered a solid foundation on which to develop the final data migration loads, and this, along with the professionalism of the team, has been of great benefit to the University’s implementation."
